Multicultural Association names new executive director
The Multicultural Association of Wood Buffalo (MCA) has appointed a new executive director.
Muna Ali will take the reins of the local non profit organization effective immediately.
Ali is from Eritrea and has been in Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo since 2006. She has held a number of roles in the non-profit sector.
She had been in the Community Engagement Lead for the North Reach Society which included working with the rural communities in the region.
“Muna has valuable experience and skills that will help MCA as it begins its new 2022-25 Strategic Plan,” said Dango Gogo, MCA president.. “She will be a leader in promoting MCA’s vision of a community where everyone feels a sense of belonging, and where respect, diversity, openness, equity, and representation are celebrated.
Ali has spent time as a community navigator for newcomers from different backgrounds in Wood Buffalo. She is the President of Eritrean Association in Wood Buffalo, and a Member of the RMWB’s Regional Advisory Committee on Inclusion, Diversity and Equality (RACIDE) committee.
In a press release, Ali said that it is an honour to lead such an important community organization and that she looks forward to working with multicultural groups, other nonprofits, partners and stakeholders.
