Girls Inc. annual golf tournament raises $20K
The Girls Inc. of Northern Alberta annual golf tournament raised more than $20,000 for the organization on September 4.
Golfers gathered at Miskanaw Golf Club celebrating the return to school with a “Frosh” theme. Participants were encouraged to return to their early college days, coordinate fun team outfits, and participate in different Minute to Win It games on the course.
“Together with Imperial, we came together to help girls in our community discover their potential and encouraged them to strive for new heights, taking positive risks and having fun along the way. Since January 2022, we have served 1634 girls so far. We continue to strive to provide barrier-free programs ensuring that girls are encouraged to be an agent of change and inspiration,” said Sundas Shamshad, Interim Executive Director of Girls Inc. of Northern Alberta.
The money raised from the golf tournament ensures that Girls Inc. programming can remain cost-free for girls in the Wood Buffalo region.
Girls Inc. is a non-profit organization that has been offering gender-specific programming for girls six to 18 years old since 2004.
The programming provides a safe space where participants can discover their strengths, find their voice and become agents of change.
