Julien Giroux moved to Fort Murray in 2010 and was able to secure employment shortly after. He worked as a detail manager for NorthStar Ford and Williams Chrysler. He also worked at Clear Stream, Roughriders International and Inner-City Diesel. During his time at Inner City, he had some challenging health issues which brought him into early retirement.
Julien currently volunteers with the North Lights Regional Hospital to offer support to individuals who have had a stroke and are in recovery.
Julien moved to Rotary House Seniors Lodge in June 2022 and has made such a positive impact on the seniors living there. Julien’s outgoing, friendly and never give up attitude has encouraged many of our residents to get involved in activities such as playing games, cards and going for walks – those who would never even consider it before. Even though Julien has his own challenge of sight loss he does not let that stop him from assisting others. He always spends one on one time with residents that are not involved as much as they could be and encourages them to get involved with the social activities. The residents really enjoy having Julien around and appreciate all his efforts to include everyone and the encouragement to try new things.
Julien shares, “There are so many positive reasons to help others out; it helps lift spirits and encourages others to do to do the same.”
