Lalita is a very social person and has always taken an active role in her community. She has resided in Wood Buffalo for 43 years, and during that time she has volunteered to help many different members of the community.
She has spent many hours volunteering to assist seniors in the region. Throughout her life, she has done this by serving meals and helping them to access housing support when needed.
Lalita is known to have made a significant community impact assisting newcomers to adapt to life in the region. She has worked to assist these individuals to access basic needs and support including transportation and housing services. Lalita has also gone above and beyond by providing them with the social supports and resources they need to successfully make the Wood Buffalo region their new home.
Lalita has been a pioneer and leader in the Fort McMurray Hindi community. She is known as a positive and uplifting spirit that will always assist in any way that is needed. Being bilingual, she has spent a significant amount of time using these skills to keep individuals connected to their communities. She has done this by providing translation services free of charge to those who do not speak English so that they are not isolated. She also assists them to navigate and access the region while feeling included and having the support of their community.
