“I define success as my ability to own my own business, be present in my son’s life and school, and be an outstanding mother while contributing to my community.”

Amanda Chubbs is the CEO/Boss-Babe behind Head Case Artistry, a fully licensed and certified beauty salon that offers hairstyling and makeup artistry.

“I love to help make people feel beautiful, whether it be with a fresh new haircut, a new hair colour, makeup or skincare,” shared Amanda, continuing to state that she loves helping people achieve their beauty goals and love the skin they’re in.

As the wife of Alexander, mom to nine-year-old Landon and five rescue pets, Amanda is an award-winning philanthropist. She received the Wood Buffalo Northern Lights Volunteer Award for 2020 through the Facebook group initiative she launched called Fort McMurray Birthday Party on Wheels.

With a mission to spread joy, laughter, love, and light throughout the community, Amanda started the group in February 2020, as the uncertainty surrounding COVID-19 began. The group took off quickly, in a time when no one was allowed to be outside unless necessary. It didn’t take long for the group to surpass 2,000 parties.

“Through this project, we were able to bring so much joy to the people of our beautiful little community,” Amanda said. “We made sure to follow all social and personal distancing guidelines. Everyone was in their vehicle, and the person being celebrated stood outside and watched all of their loved ones, friends, fire trucks, police cars, and ambulances drive by and give them a birthday party I’m sure they’ll remember for years to come.”

The unexpected elements of 2020 have taught Amanda patience, kindness, and understanding.

“I learned to pause, take a step back, and breathe in every moment. I didn’t realize how much of life I was missing out on. It was months of pure family time. It was glorious! My son and I really got to connect again, and through months of being quarantined together, we learned so much about each other, and now we are closer than ever,” she said.
