“Right now, the season is up in the air but we’re constantly planning for what we’ll be doing. I’m not exactly sure where I will be riding, but I know it may be a good year to explore what Canada has to offer.”

Brooke Voigt is a world-class athlete who defines success as creating happiness.

You can find her chasing her dreams and joy flying down the side of snow-covered mountains each winter as she is a Canadian professional snowboarder; who happens to be born and raised here in Fort McMurray.

She first started riding at the Vista Ridge ski hill at age eight. By 15, she moved to Calgary and later graduated from the National Sports School.

“My passion for the sport grew on the local hill, and I continue to love it more and more each time I step on a board,” she said.

In 2018, she made the roster for Team Canada for the 2018 Olympics in PyeongChang, for the slopestyle and big air events. She is also a World Cup champion and claimed a slopestyle bronze medal at the FIS World Cup in Italy in January 2020.

Despite her big successes and winning titles, Brooke is humble and down-to-earth and carries her passion for the sport everywhere she goes.

“Whether it’s on the mountain or in the community, my main goal is to always stoke-out the younger generation, and inspire them to follow their dreams. And push their limits to get to the next level,” she said.

Brooke’s unsure of what the 2020 winter season will bring, but said mountainsides will be in her backdrops.

“I definitely want to snowboard as much as possible. Right now, the season is up in the air but we’re constantly planning for what we’ll be doing. I’m not exactly sure where I will be riding, but I know it may be a good year to explore what Canada has to offer,” she said.

When there is no snow, she enjoys travelling around, and she generally spends her summers exploring the great outdoors and camping.
