Described as realistic, passionate, and hardworking, Athlete Services Coordinator for Keyano College, Jeremy Wielenga, brings passion to everything he does – on and off the court.
He recently sat down with YMM to straight-talk about his life in Fort McMurray, and as a recipient of the Top 50 Under 50 recognition.
YMM: What is the most rewarding part of your career?
JW: Working with Student-Athletes and watching them improve and grow on and off the court.
YMM: What keeps you in Fort McMurray?
JW: I love my job and enjoy going to work everyday. Fort McMurray is a community that takes care of each other.
YMM: What is the best advice that you ever received?
JW: It’s not about you.
YMM: What is the worst advice that you ever received?
JW: It will always work out.
YMM: What accomplishment are you most proud of?
JW: Finishing both my degrees and becoming a head coach at the post secondary level.
YMM: How would your friends and acquaintances describe you?
JW: Passionate.
YMM: Describe your perfect day in YMM.
JW: Anytime we win a Huskies home game!
YMM: Who is your hero, and why?
JW: My mother. She sacrificed for me and always believed in me.
