More than a decade ago, Krista Balsom had the vision for a magazine for everyone who lives, works, and plays in the Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo region.

Your McMurray Magazine has become a staple in the region, and is the place where local businesses, organizations, and individuals share their messages. Over the years the magazine has provided information, entertainment, and resources, and it has also been a place to memorialize major events.

In 2015, we published our first commemorative edition, celebrating the 2015 Western Canada Summer Games. The pages of the magazine celebrated sport, culture and community pride.

Following the 2016 wildfires that devastated our community, we published our next commemorative edition. Filled with messages of hope and encouragement, this edition was available by special order and was shipped all across the country.

In 2018, we published our 2018 Alberta Winter Games Wood Buffalo commemorative edition which was given to athletes, coaches, delegates, and the community.

Now, we are hard at work on our next commemorative edition which will celebrate the Wood Buffalo 2023 Arctic Winter Games at the start of 2023.

Between these special editions, we’ve celebrated Indigenous Wood Buffalo, local businesses, the seniors of our region, theatre, the oil sands, the Top 50 Under 50, YMM Builders and so much more!
